Agree with Dave. If a driver tried to average 112 km on the journey they would not make it halfway. They will end up of the road upside down a gulley (or as I once saw in South Canterbury where a car wreck appears to have gone off the road and lodged in a massive tree about 5 metres (say 17 feet) above the ground.*

And if the driver and their passengers don’t end up as road fatality statistics, while I think there are very few police patrols along the road a friendly police patrol will be sure to stop them close to Gisborne. And ticket the life out of them. There is very little leeway given to those exceeding the speed limit in NZ these days.

* I say “appears’ because I cannot believe that actually happened. I wonder if NZ police are in the habit of leaving the occasional car wreck in place on rural roads as a sort of ‘“memento mori” (reminder of death.) So perhaps it was put there on purpose. It was a windy bit of road, but not especially dangerous if driven sensibly. From time to time they install a car wreck on a trailer in town squares as a reminder to people of what can happen to your car (and you) if you drive recklessly.

obviously this isn't done by anyone who has any idea of NZ road and driving conditions....eg., given the speed limit is 100kph-then its unlikely you will average 112 kms an hour....and on this road you would be lucky to average 80kph.
